Graham Nelson continues the series, Christians At War. In this message, he addresses the method of warfare called “sieging”. Siege warfare is often mentioned throughout the Bible. Some modern translations use the word “siege,” however, the most common word used in the Bible to describe what I am talking about is “encamp, encampeth, and encamped”. Sieging is a military operation in which enemy forces surround a town or building, cutting off supplies in order to prevent the people inside from receiving food and water, with the aim of compelling those being sieged to finally surrender. Surrender comes when the enemy is weakened to the point of starvation, thirst or disease. Generally speaking, siege warfare is a form of constant, low-intensity conflict characterised by one party holding a strong, static defensive position. It is Sieging when it says in Eph 6:12, “Having done all stand.”
